ALBUM REVIEW: Joe Jonas – Fastlife
Oct 2011 11

Now when I first heard that Joe Jonas was doing a solo album, I immediately thought to myself, “BARF!” as I’ve been 100% anti-Jonas since The Jo Bros first appeared on the music scene. I always thought they were annoying, and their music was lame, but of course the time they debuted I had already moved past my Disney phase in life, so no offense to those who love them. Soon after I read that Joe’s debut album as a solo artist would greatly differ from the music he did with his brothers as it would be “more urban and dance electronic”. Okay, cool. I do very much enjoy urban and dance music, but I still told myself “no way hoe, you will NOT listen to Jonas music”. Second quarter of 2011, it was announced that Joe’s first single would be co-written by R&B singer Chris Brown, and produced by Brian Kennedy. When I heard this, I must admit it kind of sparked my interest in the project purely from an experimental point…at first. I wondered just how Chris Brown’s style would mix with the bubblegum Disney Pop that was Joe Jonas/The Jonas Brothers. Long story short, the song premiered, I took a listen, and here I am reviewing his debut album “Fastlife”.

Emerging from humble beginnings, and enduring many struggles along the way, hip-hop artist J. Cole has accomplished many things and worked his way up the rap-chain. He went from making a random cameo in Dave Chappelle’s New York block party movie; three successful mix tapes and finally a highly anticipated album of the year. His debut album “Cole World: The Sideline Story” is set to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and has been receiving critical acclaim from music critics. Read my review of his album below.
